O n August 21st, 1954, Illustrated Magazine published an article centering on the filming of Moby Dick in the town of Youghal (Cork, Ireland). Director John Huston, along with cast members Gregory Peck and Noel Purcell, among others, travelled down to the then ‘sleepy town’ of Youghal to film different scenes set in New Bedford. The town of Youghal provided the perfect backdrop to the original story, written by Herman Melville in 1851.
